adve:

Go forth, under the open sky, and list To Nature's teachings, while from

all around Earth and her waters, and the depth

of air, Comes a still voice

William Cullen Bryant

I mean to borrow one day from tomorrow. And I'm gonna spend it on sunshine and things that I love. I'm gonna reach Out and touch ev'ry star up above . . . And I begin livin' today.

Hal David

I was born upon thy bank, river, My blood flows in thy stream,

And thou meanderst forever At the bottom of my dream.

Henry David Thoreau

Traversing the avenues of life, Taking wrong turns, Feeling the way; The child's world expands

to include others, Bringing a new perspective.

It is impossible to believe the emotional and spiritual intensity and pure, classic beauty that can be produced by a man.

Ernest Hemingway

One is certain of nothing but the truth of one's emotions.

E.M. Forster

There are moments in life when the heart is so full of emotion

That if by chance it be shaken, or into its depths like a pebble

Drops some careless word, it over- flows, and its secret.

Spilt on the ground like water, can never be gathered together.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Leave the house at six o'clock

to be on time Leave the wife and kids at home

to make a dime Grab your lunch pail, check for

mail in your slot You won't get your cheque if

you don't punch the clock.

Kurt Winter

Take comfort where you see it Whatever makes it right Relax . . .

Observe and enjoy Things that would normally pass you by.

Escape until you're free

If only for a little while

Run,

Feel the wind upon your face

Until the things you ran away from

Will catch you up again.

«r_

I kicked off my shoes, and felt the good earth under my feet;

I loosened my tie, and felt what it feels like to breathe;

I found the secret to life took some time for living.

From too much love of living, From hope and fear set free,

We thank with brief thanksgiving Whatever gods may be

That no life lives forever;

That dead men rise up never;

That even the weariest river Winds somewhere safe to sea.

Algernon Charles Swinburne

-

EDWARDS

Have you ever thought about your soul

can it be saved? Or perhaps you think that when you're dead

you just stay in your grave. Is God just a thought within your head or is

He a part of you?

Iommi

As we near the door of our futures, we are reminded of our first steps, at first awkard, but becoming more confident as we grow mentally and physically. Now that we approach the unknown world we must lose the protection of home, school, and community and meet the challenges of life. Our preparation here at Euclid will deter- mine in great measure what we will become. We have the knowkedge and memories of Euclid to fortify our endeavors and strengthen our faith in ourselves.

May I see your hall pas

One for you and one for me.

MUSIC

Music reveals a freedom of individual expression that is held to the thin boun- daries of tone, volume, and rhythm. Music teachers imbue their students with an appreciation of the international language music.

LIBRARY

The library, situated at the center of the school, acts as the center of education. Here students come to research a topic of individual importance. This year, a new dimension has been added wet and dry carrels, where students may listen to recorded tapes and view closed- circuit televisions, or read independent- ly1 in a drv carrel.

The underclassmen are the identity seekers. Searching to formulate and build a life pattern, they count off the endless days. One, and even two years past them, they begin to realize the shortness of time before entering the world on their own. New respon- sibilities loom ahead, but a bright future is shaping around them.

"(live me fullness of life like to the sea and the sun; give me fullness of physical life, mind equal and beyond their fullness; give me a greatness and perfection of soul higher than all things: give me my inexpressible desire . . . the world works only for today, as the world worked twelve thousand years ago."

Imagine a play without lights! To per- form this valuable service and to make sure that each performer gets the right shading and the correct in- tensity, the lighting crew is on hand to the first call of "Curtain going up!" to the last leaving of the spectators after the performance. Under Mom's guidance, the E Room operates as a social center for students. Rock music filters in from the speakers, the T.V. operates in the lounge, and conversation buzzes left and right. Here students can con- gregate, relieved momentarily from the pressures of the classroom.

Early morning practices are attended in cut-offs and tennis shoes with rollers adorning every head. Miraculously transformed, the ma- jorettes emerge neatly attired in gold uniforms and white boots, presenting half time entertainment. Long rigorous hours of rehearsal are put into each precisely coordinated show, ranging from a take off on the 1950's to a black light routine. Long lasting friendships form between the ever smiling twirlers performing at every football game.

"POINT YOUR TOES"

Long hours of tedious practice and effort bring about perfection. Graceful maneuvers bring alive the wonders of the aquatic abyss. Each week unites the group toward their common goal, learning and growing through each other. Frustration gives way to pride as the impossible evolves into a reality. Thoughts and plans begin for the seemingly distant show, which creeps closer and closer. Friendship, concern, dis- appointment, and dedication are all elements of Wai Napolo spirit.

EUCLIDIAN STAFF 1974

The 1974 EUCLIDIAN was a struggle this year. It was put together by a small but devoted group of students. This year, we tried to make the EUCLIDIAN magnify student life of all forms. This years book is a collec- tion of ideas suggested by fellow students. This years staff members will long remember the work parties that nobody came to, the other par- ties that everyone came to, the EUCLIDIAN VS. SURVEY football game that the EUCLIDIAN won 70- 21, the picnic at Nelson's Ledges, the T-shirts that no one would wear, and the party at the AGORA.
